Nadia saved Brian’s life: he finally found her and was able to thank her
We don’t usually talk about international hockey, except when the Italian national teams are playing, but this is a story that deserves to be told.
It was 23 October: Kraken vs Vancouver Canucks was being played at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena. Brian “Red” Hamilton, assistant equipment manager for the visiting team, was calmly doing his job.

When something happened: leaning against the plexiglass behind the bench, there was a mobile phone. On the screen was a clear message: ‘The mole on the back of your neck is a tumour’. It was written by Nadia Popovici, a medical student and Kraken fan. Nadia tried hard to get Brian to read the message, and she succeeded. The student was right. Thanks to Nadia’s help, a team of doctors removed the melanoma in time, saving Brian’s life.
In order to find the girl and thank her for what she had done, Brian asked the entire hockey community for help. The two finally met two days ago during Vancouver’s return to Seattle. In addition to the thanks of the assistant equipment manager, the girl received a scholarship worth ten thousand dollars from the two clubs to spend on continuing her studies in medicine.
