Matthieu Desautels nuovo difensore per i Mastini
Arriva dal Canada il secondo colpo estero targato HCMV Varese Hockey: si tratta di Matthieu Desautels, difensore destro, ventisettenne di nazionalità canadese, che giocherà la prossima stagione di IHL coi Mastini.
Nella stagione scorsa ha giocato a Strasburgo il campionato “France 2” (la serie B francese) risultando uno dei migliori profili della stagione e affrontando da avversario il Brest, la ex formazione di Francis Drolet allenata da Claude Devèze che a settembre ritroverà (entrambi) nello stesso spogliatoio.
La HCMV Varese Hockey era alla ricerca di un difensore forte fisicamente, di personalità e già “formato” dal punto di vista hockeystico: la scelta è ricaduta su questo bravo ragazzo canadese, sebbene Matthieu “Mat” Desautels abbia sulle spalle solo una stagione di hockey in Europa. Il ragazzo ha un passato nella Concordia University in Canada, realtà molto seguita da Jim Corsi il quale ha parlato molto bene di Desautels sia come persona che come giocatore.
Sebbene le linee difensive non siano ancora complete e manca ancora qualche tassello, ciò che emerge è la volontà da parte della nuova società giallonera di portare avanti un’idea che sia quanto più possibile concreta e finalizzata a mantenere le promesse fatte a inizio mese. La dimostrazione arriva proprio dalle conferme e dai nuovi acquisti che fino ad oggi sono stati ufficializzati, con l’intento di dar vigore a un progetto sicuramente interessante e ambizioso.
Le sue caratteristiche
In difesa si fa spesso apprezzare per la sua fisicità abbinata a delle buone capacità tecniche, ma viene descritto pure come un difensore capace di impostare il powerplay e dotato di un discreto tiro dalla distanza. Il suo stile lo porta talvolta a stazionare nel terzo di attacco con l’intento di sfruttare al meglio le sue valide attitudini offensive. Queste caratteristiche potrebbero contribuire ad arricchire le soluzioni di gioco proposte e dare a coach Devèze la possibilità di cambiare il vestito tattico della propria squadra in base alle esigenze.

HCMV Varese Hockey’s second foreign hit arrives from Canada: he is Matthieu Desautels, a 27-year-old right defenceman of Canadian nationality, who will play the next IHL season with the Mastini. Last season, he played in Strasbourg’s ‘France 2’ league (the French B series), being one of the best profiles of the season and facing as an opponent Brest, Francis Drolet’s former formation coached by Claude Devèze, whom he will meet again (both) in September in the same dressing room.
HCMV Varese Hockey was looking for a physically strong defenseman, with personality and already ‘formed’ from the hockey point of view: the choice fell on this good Canadian boy, although Matthieu ‘Mat’ Desautels has only one season of hockey in Europe behind him. The boy has a past at Concordia University in Canada, a reality much followed by Jim Corsi, who spoke very highly of Desautels both as a person and as a player.
Although the defensive lines are not yet complete and there are still a few pieces missing, what emerges is the will on the part of the new Giallonera society to pursue an idea that is as concrete as possible and aimed at fulfilling the promises made at the beginning of the month.
