L’Italia viene sconfitta 4 a 1 dalla Svizzera nella partita d’esordio dei World Games 2022 di Birmingham, in programma dal 7 al 17 luglio. Gli azzurri domani, affronteranno la Lettonia nella seconda giornata. Ultima partita del girone domenica contro la Repubblica Ceca.
La partita si sblocca al 13esimo con Heinrich che porta in vantaggio gli elvetici, superando Frigo. A 2 minuti dalla prima sirena è Sturny a trovare il raddoppio. Tornati in pista Schlappi, passati 12 secondi, segna la terza rete rossocrociata. L’Italia esce indenne dall’inferiorità numerica ed a 7 minuti dalla fine riapre trova la rete del 3 a 1 con Vendrame che supera Brunner. Ad 1 e 30 dalla fine Di Biase realizza la rete del definitivo 4 a 1 elvetico

“Sicuramente ha vinto l’inesperienza. Prima partita, primo mondiale, e soprattutto prima esperienza per tanti di questi ragazzi. Questo è il “peso” di questa partita. Sicuramente in queste manifestazioni il gioco fisico e più concesso che in Italia. Oggi dobbiamo metabolizzare tutto e domani uscire dalla pista senza aver rimpianti. L’importante è provarci e domani sarà sicuramente un’altra storia“.

Italy was defeated 4-1 by Switzerland in the opening match of the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, scheduled from 7 to 17 July. The Azzurri will face Latvia tomorrow on the second day. The last match of the round on Sunday against the Czech Republic.
The match unblocked in the 13th minute with Heinrich who put the Helvetians ahead, past Frigo. Two minutes before the first siren it was Sturny who found the double. Back on track, Schlappi, 12 seconds later, scored the third Swiss goal. Italy emerges unscathed from numeric inferiority and 7 minutes from the end finds the goal of the 3 to 1 with Vendrame who passes Brunner. At 1:30 from the end Di Biase scores the goal of the final 4 to 1 Swiss.
