L’Italia chiude al quarto posto i World Games, il bronzo va alla Francia che batte 5 a 2 gli azzurri. I blues conquistano la finalina per il 3° e 4° posto dopo un primo tempo meglio giocato, ed al termine di un secondo periodo a grandi tinte azzurre. La rete del 5 a 2 finale arriva a 1 secondo dalla fine e a porta vuota. Gli azzurri, dopo un primo periodo finito sotto di 4 reti, provano a riaprire la partita nel secondo tempo. La rimonta però è incompleta: alle due reti trovate nel corso del secondo periodo, non ne segue più nessuna.
Dopo una prima fase di equilibrio, è la Francia a trovare la rete con Gabillet che porta così in vantaggio i Blues, quando sono passati 3 e 06 dall’inizio. Gli azzurri provano subito a pareggiare, ma è ancora la Francia ad andare a segno, meno di un minuto dopo, con Hamon. A metà del primo periodo arriva la terza rete per i blues con Ladonne. Gli azzurri però provano a reagire, ma non trovano la rete. Si va negli spogliatoi sul 3 a 0.
La ripresa vede l’Italia provare ad accorciare il match, ma gli azzurri non riescono a segnare, cosa che invece fa la Francia dopo 5 minuti: Gonzalez supera Frigo e trova la rete del 4 a 0. L’Italia prova il tutto per tutto e al non della ripresa Capitan Andrea Bellini firma la rete del 4 a 1. Il goal galvanizza gli azzurri, che aumentano la pressione. Passano meno di 3 minuti ed è ancora il capitano a firmare la seconda rete. Il 4 a 2 sembra riaprire la gara. Gli azzurri ci provano in tutti i modi negli ultimi 10 minuti, anche togliendo il portire a 2 dalla fine, ma la rete non arriva. Ad un secondo dalla sirena Gabillet segna a porta vuota. L’Italia chiude al quarto posto la sua avventura ai World Games, il bronzo va alla Francia.

“Come alla prima partita ha vinto l’inesperienza nostra: gli ultimi 10 min era l’Italia che doveva esserci per 40 e forse avremmo vinto, ne sono certo. Queste mazzate sui denti ci aiuterà a crescere con l’amaro in bocca che potevamo portare a casa una medaglia. Questo è tutto a favore per l’Argentina“.

Italy closes the World Games in fourth place, the bronze goes to France who beat the Azzurri 5-2. The blues conquered the final for 3rd and 4th place after a better-played first half, and at the end of a second period in great Italian colours. The goal of the final 5-2 came with 1 second to go and an empty goal. The Azzurri, after a first period finished 4 goals down, tried to reopen the game in the second half. The comeback, however, was incomplete: the two goals found during the second period were not followed by any more.
After an initial period of balance, it was France who found the net with Gabillet who thus put the Blues ahead when 3:06 had passed since the start. The Azzurri immediately tried to equalize, but it was France again who scored, less than a minute later, with Hamon. Midway through the first period came the third goal for the blues with Ladonne. The Azzurri, however, tried to react, but could not find the net. They went into the locker room on 3-0.
The second half saw Italy try to shorten the match, but the Azzurri failed to score, something that France did after 5 minutes: Gonzalez overcame Frigo and found the 4-0 goal. Italy tried everything and at the non of the second half Captain Andrea Bellini signed the goal of 4 to 1. The goal galvanised the Azzurri, who increased the pressure. Less than 3 minutes passed and it was again the captain who signed the second goal. The 4 to 2 seemed to reopen the match. The Azzurri tried in every way in the last 10 minutes, even removing the goalkeeper with 2 to go, but the goal did not come. One second before the siren Gabillet scored an empty goal. Italy ends its World Games adventure in fourth place, the bronze goes to France.
