L’Italia U20 chiude al terzo posto il Mondiale di Bytom

Finisce con una sconfitta contro l’Estonia il cammino dell’Italia U20 che chiude al terzo posto il Mondiale IIHF di 1^ Divisione Gruppo B di Bytom, in Polonia, in programma dall’11 al 17 dicembre. Gli azzurrini di coach Giorgio De Bettin perdono 2 a 1 contro gli estoni e terminano terzi la rassegna iridata. Italia ed Estonia torneranno l’anno prossimo a disputare il Mondiale del gruppo B. Oggi le ultime due gare decisive per la promozione e la retrocessione. Polonia e Corea si affronteranno per non retrocedere: face off alle 16 e 30. Questa sera, alle ore 20, il Giappone sfida l’Ucraina nell’ultima partita.

Dopo un primo periodo equilibrato, con entrambe le squadre che si fanno pericolosi, è l’Estonia a passare per prima in vantaggio nella ripresa. Al 28esimo Nevolainen porta avanti i lettoni firmando l’1 a 0. Passano meno di tre minuti e Vejla segna il raddoppio. A 28 secondi dalla sirena Alessandro Segafredo accorcia le distanze per il 2 a 1. Nell’ultimo periodo gli azzurri vanno vicino al pareggio in diverse occasioni, ma Aganezovs salva i suoi. Finisce 2 a 1 per l’Estonia, e l’Italia U20 chiude chiude così al terzo posto la sua avventura al Mondiale di Bytom.

Italy U20 ends third at Bytom World Championship

Italy U20 ended with a defeat against Estonia, finishing in third place at the IIHF World Championship of 1st Division Group B in Bytom, Poland, scheduled from 11 to 17 December. The Azzurrini of coach Giorgio De Bettin lost 2-1 against the Estonians and finished third at the rainbow review. Italy and Estonia will return next year to play the World Cup in Group B. Today the last two decisive matches for promotion and relegation. Poland and Korea will face off for no relegation: face off at 4.30 p.m. Tonight, at 8pm, Japan takes on Ukraine in the last match.

After a balanced first period, with both teams making themselves dangerous, it was Estonia who took the lead first in the second half. In the 28th minute, Nevolainen put the Latvians ahead, making it 1-0. Less than three minutes passed and Vejla scored the double. At 28 seconds from the siren, Alessandro Segafredo shortened the distance to 2:1. In the final period, the Azzurri came close to equalising on several occasions, but Aganezovs saved his men. It ended 2-1 for Estonia, and Italy U20s thus ended their adventure at the World Cup in Bytom in third place.
