Gabriella Vitelli, nuova giocatrice delle Eagles Alto Adige

La statunitense con passaporto italiano Gabriella “Gabby” Vitelli è una nuova giocatrice delle Eagles Alto Adige per il rush finale della stagione in corso, ed indosserà il n° 44. La società, poco prima della scadenza dei termini per i tesseramenti, si è mossa sul mercato per ovviare ai problemi in difesa. Col forfait di Anna Bertoluzzo ad inizio stagione dovuto a problemi fisici, e poi l’assenza di Franziska Stocker, accasatasi nella seconda divisione svedese a metà di gennaio, la retroguardia bolzanina ha perso due giocatrici importanti.

Dopo la partita EWHL di domenica, Elisa Innocenti ha subito un serio infortunio che la fermerà per almeno un mese. Delle sette difensori originariamente a roster, ne sono rimaste solo quattro. Troppo poche per le Eagles che per la European Women’s Hockey League EWHL sono riuscite ad assicurarsi i servizi di Emma Pol del Valdifiemme, che ha già giocato tre partite con ottimo successo.

Gabriella Vitelli, nata il 17 settembre 1999 nel Connecticut, è una difensora di stecca sinistra alta 1,63 m ed ha giocato per quattro anni con i Bobcats della rinomata Quinnipiac University fino al marzo 2022. Da circa 10 mesi vive a Bologna, dove si era trasferito quattro anni prima anche il fratello maggiore e dove sta studiando per il master, dopo aver conseguito il Bachelor of Science. Nella prima parte di stagione ha giocato a lacrosse con i Bologna Sharks Lacrosse, squadra dove gioca ed allena il fratello Will.

U.S. player with Italian passport Gabriella “Gabby” Vitelli is a new player for the Eagles Alto Adige for the final rush of the current season. The club, just before the deadline for signings expired, made a move in the market to remedy problems on defense. With the forfeit of Anna Bertoluzzo at the beginning of the season due to physical problems, and then the absence of Franziska Stocker, who settled in the Swedish second division in mid-January, the Bolzano rearguard lost two important players.

Gabriella Vitelli, born Sept. 17, 1999, in Connecticut, is a 5-foot-6 left stick defenseman and played four years with the Bobcats of renowned Quinnipiac University until March 2022. For the past 10 months or so she has been living in Bologna, where her older brother had also moved four years earlier and where she is studying for her master’s degree after earning her Bachelor of Science degree. In the early part of the season he played lacrosse with the Bologna Sharks Lacrosse, a team where his brother Will plays and coaches.
