EWHL 2022/23: Eagles sconfitte da HK e MAC Budapest
Dopo le due partite di EWHL 2022/23, disputate giovedì 16 e sabato 18 febbraio, le Eagles escono sconfitte da HK Budapest e MAC Budapest, due delle tre rappresentanti ungheresi della EWHL, alla Sparkasse Arena. Se contro l’HK Budapest la sconfitta è stata di 1 a 6, col MAC l’incontro è finito 0 a 3 per le ospiti. La partita di sabato è stata giocata davanti al Presidente della Giunta Provinciale Arno Kompatscher, il suo vice Giuliano Vettorato, l’europarlamentare Matteo Gazzini e il consigliere comunale Roberto Selle, ed ad una buona cornice di pubblico.
Dopo lo 0 a 0 dei primi 20 minuti, nella ripresa il MAC ha trovato la rete del vantaggio al 32esimo con Roache. Le altre due reti sono arrivate negli ultimi 46 secondi di gara. A segno prima Atkinson e poi ancora Roache per lo 0 a 3 finale. Le Eagles hanno ancora due partite del girone preliminare della EWHL da disputare: torneranno sul ghiaccio il 4 marzo contro le Neuberg Highlanders e l’11 marzo contro le Lakers Carinzia. La lotta per il sesto posto è ancora aperta.
EWHL 2022/23: Eagles defeated by HK and MAC Budapest
After the two EWHL 2022/23 matches played on Thursday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 18, the Eagles came out defeated by HK Budapest and MAC Budapest, two of Hungary’s three EWHL representatives, at Sparkasse Arena. If against HK Budapest the defeat was 1-6, with MAC the match ended 0-3 for the guests. Saturday’s match was played in front of Provincial Council President Arno Kompatscher, his deputy Giuliano Vettorato, MEP Matteo Gazzini and city councilor Roberto Selle, and a good crowd.
After a 0-0 scoreline in the first 20 minutes, MAC found the go-ahead goal in the second half in the 32nd through Roache. The other two goals came in the last 46 seconds of the game. First Atkinson and then Roache again scored for the 0-3 final. The Eagles still have two more EWHL preliminary round games to play: they will return to the ice on March 4 against the Neuberg Highlanders and on March 11 against the Carinthia Lakers. The fight for sixth place is still wide open.
