Calafell wins the 41st edition of World Skate Europe Cup
Calafell defeats Follonica 6-5 and becomes the new champion of the 41st edition of the World Skate Europe Cup. It was a final full of goals and emotions at the Pavilhao Multiusos in Paredes (Portugal). A final in which the spanish team immediately made clear the desire to win, signing the initial 3-0 in 8 minutes. Follonica grew minute by minute, reaching 4-3 at the end of the first half.
But Calafell has always been ahead in the result, not leaving the return of the Italians supported by the goals of the Banini brothers. Arnau Xaus’ double was decisive, the last of which was made five minutes from the end. For Calafell it is the first trophy in their history but the Cup remains in Catalunya after the three consecutive victories of Lleida.
Ferran Lopez, Calafell’s coach: “For Calafell an historic day. We were in the lead from the first minute and we managed to win with great strength“.
Sergio Silva, Follonica’s coach: “We had been really close to equalizing even in the last minutes. The team believed in it until the end but it was not enough”.
