Gli azzurrini vengono sconfitti 3 a 1 dal Galles, nella seconda partita dell’EuroHockey di Plzeň Litice, in programma dal 24 al 30 luglio. Per l’Italia domani giorno di riposo: si tornerà in campo il 27 luglio, alle 18 contro la Repubblica Ceca.
L’Italia non sfrutta il primo penalty corner della partita, quando sono passati pochi minuti dall’inizio. Sul finire della prima frazione è il Galles che non concretizza il primo penalty corner. Al 27esimo del secondo quarto John Bennett porta in vantaggio i gallesi. Ad inizio della terza frazione gli azzurri non riescono a sfruttare il penalty corner.
Il risultato resta così invariato fino al 38esimo quando ancora John Bennett firma il raddoppio. Due minuti dopo Fred Newbold cala il tris. Nell’ultima frazione, al 50esimo, l’Italia accorcia le distanze con Daniele Cavallini su penalty corner. Gli azzurrini cercano la seconda rete, e costringono i gallesi a tre corner corti negli ultimi minuti. Il goalie Payne salva i suoi in diverse occasioni. Finisce 3 a 1 per il Galles.
Azzurrini defeated by Wales at EuroHockey Plzeň Litice
The Azzurrini were defeated 3-1 by Wales in the second game of the EuroHockey Plzeň Litice, scheduled from July 24-30. For Italy, tomorrow will be a day of rest: they will be back on the field on July 27th, at 18:00 against the Czech Republic.
Italy did not take advantage of the first penalty corner of the match, when only a few minutes had passed since the start. Towards the end of the first half it was Wales who failed to capitalise on the first penalty corner. At the 27th minute of the second quarter John Bennett put the Welsh side ahead. At the start of the third half the Azzurri failed to capitalise on the penalty corner.
The result remained unchanged until the 38th minute when John Bennett again doubled the score. Two minutes later Fred Newbold scored the third. In the final period, in the 50th minute, Italy shortened the distance with Daniele Cavallini on a penalty corner. The Azzurrini looked for the second goal, and forced the Welsh into three short corners in the final minutes. Goalie Payne saved his side on several occasions. It ended 3-1 to Wales.
