Partnership between The World Games 2022 and Microsoft Spotlights Positive Impact of HBCUs and HBCCs
Students from Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Historically Black Community Colleges (HBCCs) will be spotlighted during The World Games 2022 thanks to an innovative partnership with Microsoft.
Visitors to “The World Games 2022 HBCU Experience Presented by Microsoft” will be able to engage in a variety of technology-driven and fun activities while also having the opportunity to celebrate the talent, innovation and culture of HBCUs and HBCCs.
The events will be in the HBCU Experience tent at The World Games Plaza in the heart of Birmingham at the new City Walk BHAM.
“We’re proud to partner with organizations like The World Games 2022 who use their global platforms to support and elevate community,” said Jeff Hansen, GM Strategic Partnerships for Microsoft. “The HBCU experience at The World Games Plaza is a great example – each day one of Alabama’s HBCUs or HBCCs will get to share their culture and contributions with World Games attendees from choirs and bands to drone racing programs. We can’t wait to see what these schools and students are working on.”
Among the activities visitors will be able to experience are:
- · Minecraft Corner, featuring work from the finalists of The World Games HBCU Minecraft Challenge
- · Pedometer coding and step challenge
- · A gaming lounge with Xbox, a NASCAR race car simulator, and more
- · 360 photo booth
- · Music Beat-mixing station
Visitors to the Plaza can visit The World Games 2022 HBCU Experience Presented by Microsoft from July 7-17 between 3-9 p.m.
