I precedenti

The history
The rivalry between Foxes and Black Wings started in 2015. Bolzano, defending champions, qualified for the playoffs by passing through the Qualification Round and in the quarter-finals found themselves facing Linz, who came second in the Pick Round. The Black Wings passed the round by winning game 7.
One year later history repeats itself: Bolzano finishes the Pick Round in fourth place, while Linz finishes fifth. The Black Wings win games 5 and 6 and qualify, after Bolzano had tied the series at 2:2. The two teams also meet in 2017: Linz fourth and Bolzano sixth after the Pick Round. This time it was the red and white that won the decisive game 5 in Linz.
Linz thus returns to the playoffs after a two-year absence. HCB Südtirol Alperia also celebrates its return to the postseason: Last year, the Foxes missed the playoffs for the first time since joining the league. It is the third time that the South Tyroleans have entered the playoffs as series leaders.
